Online composition using ping pong balls – Absolut Quartet
Written by ace.

The most awesome interactive ping pong ball powered robotic music thingy I’ve ever seen! Great fun after you’ve composed it yourself. Check out the brandy glasses with the tiny brushes on the right hand side of the screen about 45 seconds in. You can read about how this was made at www.absolut.com/absolutmachines and have a go yourself. If you’re interested in similar programming techniques (ie. Max/MSP) then check out jamesfrize.43host.info

Would be good if the balls had L.E.D’s in them which indicated the different pitches.

    It’s a pretty cool idea, IRL Animusic…

But I think it needs a much better composer.

    It sounds too freakin’ random!

The difference between this and Animusic, is that this is the real thing and not a computer a computer animation.
