All the story from Halloween 4 onwards had nothing to do with Carpenter or the original intent of Myers. Carpenter always intended him to just be a silent stalker.
But thats my argument. The original Halloween showed a normal mother and father. Youd see them as neighbours or even your own parents. With no explanation their only son kills his sister. With Zombies Michaels he’s basically saying “he came from a broken home, so he went crazy” Thats not as scary as a character who just one day kills with no explanation. Zombie is making Michael sympathetic, and he doesnt and never needed it and its ultimately hurting the character.
In terms of the draw power, you’re right about Michael, but with an antagonist and protagonist, the story needs both to work. We’re with Jamie Lees Laurie, basically start to finish and so we’re rooting for her. Zombies Laurie comes in well over half way through the film & the 1st thing she does is act like a total ditz. This hurts the character because we’re not indeared to her & dont care for her. It makes you want Michael to off her and the role of Laurie was always to combat the bogey man.
…it is clear that he really cared. ALOT of time & effort went into the film. The sequel however, seems to have come to gether very quickly. For a year of saying he didnt want to do a sequel to within a year, signing on, writing, casting and filming. Thats very rushed. While Carpenter put in the sister story in because he didnt know where to take the story, it did ultimately give H2 a twist in it suddenly made sense, which does hurt Myers because a killer without motive is always more scary.
The plot of his sister was shoe horned in though. Carpenter never intended there to be a sequel and thats why Halloween 2 suffers. Suddenly Michael has motive. Its still good but the ending was supposed to be the end. Loomis and MIchael were both supposed to have died at the end of that film. Its the same as Zombies Halloween. He went on record MANY times after Halloween, saying there would not be a sequel and if there was he would not be involved. For all the flaws of Zombies Halloween…
So I’m goin in with a clear mind no expectations, so that if anything is cool I won’t be blind be the feeling that it going
to suck before.
What I meant about the innocence is how does a baby go from being a sweet little baby to a heart less killing machine,
it shows that having a crazy messed up family will do it to you and how he went insane by not talking a single word for years.
Also the new H2 I am not going to judge before viewing it might be a piece of crap or it might not and I don’t want to
go in to the movie thinking its going to blow, cause I’m going to be coming out of the movie with the same
feeling.
Laurie was the strong main character of the first 2 Halloweens but it was Michael Myers who everyone came back for and it
shows because H3 had no Micheal Myers and then they brought back him H4 H5 Curse all had no Laurie and they still did well in
the box office.
As great as Laurie is she doesn’t put as much ass in the seat as Micheal Myers, so it only fitting that we get to know more
about this crazy killer.
Man all for debates so that cool.
But man you gotta something wrong in the second Halloween John C version, it is clear Michael Myers has a motive in which he
wants to kill his sister or in H4 H5 H20 he wants to kill his family all of it and will take any means to do it in which
kill there friends .
The first one was excellent because you didn’t know why he was killing the girls, but you can’t recapture that same magic
because everyone knows already.

) Sorry, im a fan of debates. Zombie never explains Michaels innocence. In the first scene he’s killing his pet and wearing masks, then swearing at teachers. Michael is messed up there but look at his home life. His mothers a stripper, his sister a slut and his male role model a foul mothed drunk. In the original Michael came from an ordinary family and thats scary because there is no reason. Zombie gives him a reason.
…having tea with the family. Zombie also made Michael the main character which hurt the fim because it means we lose the connection to Laurie. In the original, Laurie is the light to Michaels darkness. In the remake, Laurie is a ditz who rubs bagels against her breasts and hangs around with foul mothed girls. Why do people in Zombies movies have to cuss so much. The first Halloween worked because we didnt know why Michaek did what he did. Zombie just demyths the character and hurts it.
My problem with Zombie (like I said above) is his obsession with putting his wife in everything. She was VERY good in Halloween, probably the best performance in the film, but now to have her as the method to MIchaels maddness. Thats pathetic. Michael kills because he kills. He doesnt need a motive. He never did. I hate that directors are taking the monsters of the past and demything them. Leatherface is now a little boy with a skin problem. I fully expect Zombie to have Michael sitting and…
The fact that Zombie is further destroying Michael just to have an excuse to shoe horn his wife into another movie hes directing is enough for me man. Michael Myers, the shape, the embodyment of evil, who cannot be stoped is now a messed up kid who takes orders from his dead mother so that his family can be together. I’m sorry, thats not Michael Myers. Michael was scary because he had no motive. Now, he not only has a motive, but he’s basically a worse version of Jason.
Also I wouldn’t judge the 2nd one before viewing because now your expectations is the movie is shit and your opinion is probably not going to change during viewing.
But what zombie did is make the movie run smooth without a lot of dry spot.
Don’t get me wrong I love the suspension that it builds up with all those part, but it runs alot better without some of the boring scenes.
I understand that a lot of the his mystic is gone. But Zombie makes a lot more of sense in which how could a little innocent boy turn in to a cold heart killer.
I love your song choice for this vid, Welshy. I recommend more Mindless Self Indulgence in future vids (Some good ones IMO are “Wack!” and “Clarissa”)
And I agree, Hollywood has indeed lost its touch over the generations. I fear for our future. XD

well if its for some cash I can’t blame him then lol I already know some flaws in KOF12 such as 5 stages playable only but thats a lil flaw.
also I can’t stand a 10 minute of people talking about things they hate. at least some AVGN videos had a special guest like bugs bunny getting his ass kicked is hilarious to watch over and over again lol, if joe did this I would watch that haha
I was pretty angry about it, LOVE the 1st & New Nightmare, THAT is the Freddy that should have always been. However, with casting Jackie Earle Haley, whos a DAMN good actor & seeing the first image of Freddy, I’m willing to wait before judging. So long as they dont try to make Freddy sympathetic (like theyve done with Myers & Leatherface) it will be a big step in the right direction. That said Jackie has a shadow over is performance in Mr. Englund because there will only ever be one true Freddy.
It would, excpet (if you’re refering to Joe) Joe is performing a parody of angry reviews and he also gets paid for his work, so its hardly a waste.
The remake was good because Zombie clearly cared for the material, but it also borrowed LOTS from the original, so it could hardly go wrong. What I hated about it was it..and the sequel (H2 is going to do this more) is that it EXPLAINS why Michael does what he does. The Michael of the original was the shape, he was the stalker and you didnt know why he did what he did. THAT is scary. Now Michael is a messed up child who takes orders from his death mother. Thats not scary and its also Jason.
